his main concern was that all the groups familys was prodived for, so they dont have to get dump on the street, and they have enough money too live, but he will also have that the diary, was telling the englishmen how brave and courgae of his companions.

Who the devil are "the public"?

Scott has adressed "the public" because he wants to address the British, not only the people in the government and connected to the mission itself, but also to the general public. The regular British people should also know of these men's bravery and how they died for their country.
He also addresses the public in order to invoke their empathy, so they would help the families of the departed.

Why British people fail in the snow (unless they're Stephen Fry)

They had not foreseen that bringing ponies to the South Pole probably wasn't a good idea, and when they (not surprisingly) lost the ponies they couldn't bring all their stuff.
They were also surprised by the bad, cold weather and it slowed them down.
And it seems it took them by surprise when it started snowing, and the snow slowed them down as well.
It seems like the British had prepared for a vacation on Barbados and not a mission to the South Pole.

The letter is much less personal than the diary. Where the diary is humorous, the letter is solemn and dignified.
In the letter, it is very important how people are remembered, in the diary he just writes his thoughts. Ultimately, it differs from the diary both in wording and content.

And idea for a short story could be:
Oates is the main character and we follow him in a first person narrator, in a way that gives us a look into his head when he realizes what's going to happen and what he has to do.
It might be interesting to get a better idea of the discussions they have in the camp, when they discuss dying etc.

Ideas, thoughts and ramblings for a short story

I would have my main character be Titus Oates. The man who left the others to walk to his death in the snow, knowing that if he didn't, he would be the doom of them all.

I would chose a first person narrator, with plenty of inner monologues and rambling thoughts. I would have him be an all-knowing narrator, as I mean to make him an invisible spirit of sorts, following the expedition and ultimately knowing their fate.

It should be told in retrospective, as Titus telling a story about what happened a long time ago.

I need to remember what actually happened and what they thought about it. I should also try to emulate their way of speech as best I can, in order to make a credible reimagining of the events.

Death and Moral

The explores have quite a non-caring attitude towards death, they are aware of that a companion of theirs is going to die, they observe him as he gets weaker but they keep going anyway. They know they have to do everything they can to stay alive, but yet it seems from Scott's writing that they've always known they might die; it's just part of the deal.
Scott writes about Oates' suicide like it's nothing, it seems it isn't something they have any kind of moral problem with, he dies, that's it. All they hope is that they can meet death bravely.

Scott's main concern at the very end

So far all odds have been against them; Freezing weather that never reached above -18 degrees, snowblizzards, their ponies died and their machinery broke down leaving them to continue on foot with very little food.

Scott did not think they could hope for better conditions any time soon. He believed they would stick to the end, weak or not, knowing that the end wasn't far away.

His main concern where that they wouldn't make it back home alive.

6) Describe Oates’ death on March 16.-17. What were his last thoughts? How did he announce what he intended to do? Why did the others not stop him or go after him?

two days befor the 16-17 march, titus otaes have a lot of problems to keep up with the group and the 15 march he said to the group, they should leave him in his sleeping back, but the group coulden leave him behind, but the group induced him to go on, he struggeled a lot to keep up with the group, and in the atfernoon we know that the end of titus has come. His laste thoughts was about his mother, but he was not giving up yet, the next morning he get up the next morning and he just start to work, but when the blizzard worsened, and titus said he will go out in the blizzard in some time, but he never come back from the blizzard. they didn`t stop him because they think he will die with his honour, and the group repect his choices, that he will go out to the blizzard to die, a reason to they let him go chould be  because they dont have enought food to stay with him.

The dead guys, how did they die?

Titus Oates - He was very bad, even in the beginning. In the end, he survived the night that he thought would kill him, so he went outside and never returned. His last thoughts were of his mother.
Wilson -Walked to his death with Scott
Bowers -Walked to his death with Scott
Evans - He died when they were out of food, which was good, because he was unable to move on and they didn't want to leave him behind.

Descripe the men's situation in terms of:

a) - Their psysical surroundings

The south pole is a snow-dessert, with snow-blizzards and degrees reaching below -40 and never rosed above -18.
Scott and his team had brought experimental motor sledges and ponies - an animal not at all created to travel in such conditions. The sledges broke down and the ponies died, leaving them with no means of transportation.

b) - the state of their their provisions

Of medicin they had 30 opium tabloids apiece and a tube of morphin. 

They had seven days worth of food and 55 miles to the nearest depôt.

c) - Their psysical condition

 

The party was short on food supplies, but could not cut rations(it's dangerous in such wheather) and did not have enough for every day of the journey. 

Captain Oates got very sick hands and feet practically useless due to frostbites. Wilson caught a cold and could not get off ski for quite some time. 

Captain Titus Oates wanted them to leave him behind, but they didn't, and he just got worse. 

   In the end he walked outside and no one have seen him since. 

After Oates' death, they all discovered that they had gotten serious frostbites. 

   Scott's right foot went(all of their feet were in bad condition), and amputation was the least he could hope for. 

   Wilson's feet were in the best condition, but still pretty bad. 

d) - Their mental condition

They were of course disappointed about the losing to the Norwegians, but there are bigger problems at hand: Captain Oates was very near the end, and the felt it. 

   The wheather got bad - really bad - so one can only imagine what they were feeling when the food started to run out and their feet started to blacken. Not to mention that they couldn't walk very far - and sometimes not at all - during the day time, setting up camp was getting hard and Captain Oates' condition got worse. 

   Captain Oates however felt pride, with the way he was going to meet his death.

   The rest of the team was determined to stick to the very end, but they had little hope of making it back home.

the text i wrote by scott, in the text he is writing about what happends on the journey and his thoughts, channel that is a diary and the receiver is the english people.  

What characterizes Scott's writing style?

Scott is simply writing down happenings and thoughts, as one usual does with a diary. There really is nothing extraordenary about his way of writing. 
   He is trying to keep it positive though.
